Geographic Information System Based Suitable Temporary Shelter Location for Mount Merapi Eruption

Merapi is an active volcano in the Sleman District with eruptions occurring periodically. However, time and power of could not be predicted accurately. Therefore, considering dense population around peak Mount Merapi, appropriate fast handling needed when eruption occurs. One crucial parts to handled availability evacuation places for affected population. Even though district already has contingency plans, existing plans cannot necessarily implemented, as case 2010 eruption. The locations planned shelters based on 2009 are no longer safe, including permanent owned by Regency. Thus, eruption, refugees had evacuated other safe places. Hence, some additional temporary refuges or anticipate change patterns future. This paper aims provide a model determine suitable shelter that meet several criteria, which include constraints (exclusionary criteria) factors (evaluation criteria). criteria this study were defined literature review, interviews, questionnaire survey experts who have experience field disasters, especially Merapi. Constraint used candidates shelters, i.e., possible shelters. Potential will selected from factor using geographic information system (GIS), fuzzy logic, multi-criteria decision making (analytical hierarchy process (AHP), weighted linear combination (WLC)). implementation shows experienced moving place three times during evacuation, within radius 10, 15, 20 km due increase In paper, therefore, potential designed at km.
